Getting Settled In

Before the school year starts you know that you will have to pay for school books, meal plan, and rent for your apartment.  Most of the time a loan will cover your rent and meal plans.  If this is the situation for you then that is great because its money that you do not need to come up with at the moment. Once you get into an apartment you may need to get stuff for your room that include a bed, maybe a desk and a dresser, and other personal needs items such as toiletries, all of these things can add up pretty quick.  Between rent, furniture, cleaning supplies, school supplies, and meal plans you could be broke before you even get your first case of beer.

Some of the everyday items can add up quickly and drain your bank account before you know it.  Items such as cleaning materials and furniture for the apartment can be costly as well, its best to split the cost between the roommates so that everyone has chipped in.

Cable/internet will also be an expense that you will have to pay monthly, some students forget about this expense because it is free in the dorms and they haven't had to pay for it before.  This can be expensive depending on what package you get. For the most part it is best to budget you money because we all know that most of your money will be spent at the bar and on other miscellaneous expenses that you do not budget for.  You will have more fun in college if you are able to budget your money because when the time comes to get something or go somewhere you will be able to.

Here is a link to do your own budgeting and see how much you spend

The Real Cost College.......

Hello everyone. As we all know college is expensive no matter how you look at it, but as we all know we pay for more then just our classes and room and board. This blog will show what the costs are of things when you move to off campus housing that you do not think of when you are signing the lease. Once you move off campus you are responsible for paying for things such as food, cable and internet, heat, electricity, etc. This does not include any personal items you will need for yourself.

Next weeks blog will include what to expect when your getting situated in your new apartment.......
